Cooking with Cauliflower

My way of stir frying vegetable with whatsoever greens I can find in my fridge! :) Just toss everything together and with a quick stir fry, a well rounded balance serving of greens is ready!!

Stir-fry Cauliflower with Beans & Black Fungus

  • 250gm cauliflower florets
  • 70gm french beans, cut into 3cm length
  • 50gm carrots, sliced
  • 30gm soaked black fungus
  • 1 tbsp sliced ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 100ml water
  • 2 tbsp vegetarian oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp chinese wine
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in pan, add ginger and stir fry for 1min until golden and fragrant. Add in garlic and stir fry briefly.
  2. Add in cauliflower, carrots & french beans and stir fry for a min. Add in black fungus and water, cover and simmer for 5mins or until the cauliflower is tender.
  3. Add in seasoning and mix evenly. Remove from heat and serve.

What is this? Mashed potato? No no Garlic Cauliflower 'Mashed Potato' actually Mashed Cauliflower!!! Taste fantastic with the homemade brown gravy, I can tell you it is really as good as 'Kxx' mashed potato or even better!! My 2 darlings love the mashed a lot! My son commented : hmmm the mashed potato very creamy! how you make it hur? >.< hahaha

Brown Gravy
Recipe extracted from Baking Wonderland
  • 2 tbsp vegetarian oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • dash of black pepper
  • 1 tsp corn flour
  • 100ml water
  • 1/2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp milk

  1. Combine oyster sauce, sugar, black pepper, corn flour and water. Mix well.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan, add in sauce mixture and bring to boil. Simmer till thicken.
  3. Stir in milk and mix well. Turn off heat. Serve with 'mashed potato'
